A safe and friendly place to meet

About Us

Birmingham Salvation Army Child Contact Centre (BSACCC), was opened in 2000, and has provided a safe, friendly, neutral environment for hundreds of children.

The Centre continues to provide the opportunity for children, whose parents have separated, to spend quality time with the non-resident parent. Its child-centred environment provides toys, games, books and other facilities that reflect the diverse needs of the children affected by these family breakdowns.

The Centre is an accredited member of the National Association of Child Contact Centres (NACCC), and is managed and run entirely by fully trained volunteers, all of whom have been checked to an enhanced level by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)

The Centre is managed by an Advisory Board, Coordinator and Deputy Coordinator. Contact sessions are led by 5 Team Leaders who are responsible for a group of volunteers.

We provide SUPPORTED CONTACT, where non-resident parents can spend time with their children on a regular basis until more permanent arrangements are agreed. We do not write reports about the quality of contact, or make recommendations for future actions. All personal confidential information is stored securely at the Centre. Our only requirement is to pass on statistical information regarding arrival and departure times for the contact sessions and any safeguarding reports.

We realise that the process of seeking and undertaking contact can be a difficult time for all involved. Therefore we aim to provide a service that is free from stress, and an impartial atmosphere where everyone can relax.

Families generally use the Centre for about six months or until relationships have improved, levels of trust between parents have risen, and anxiety levels have fallen.
